Manhattan-Digital is a U.S. company, based in Wisconsin.
Hello, my name is Jeff Schumann, owner and founder of Manhattan-Digital. We are a USA-based company, operating in the state of Wisconsin all of our lives. Our people have been in the consumer electronics business since the late 1970s. Many of the other companies you see today are based overseas, and only recently have started operations here in the states.
Although we are a small company, we have a lot of history behind us, with our decades of service to the consumer electronics industry. Our most important assets are honesty and integrity, which allowed us to move our business forward where others have failed.
My beginnings go back over 30 plus years, when I met my best friend, while working at a bar-tending job in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a manager of an audio music store that specialized in audio equipment, which was a favorite hobby of mine. I did fairly well and that went into another retail job selling audio/video equipment, that became evolved into being the first Apple Dealership in Madison with TEAM Electronics. Some of the previous management of Team went to form another business that we know today as “Best Buy”.
After managing my first store, I went into a satellite dealership at the beginning of the big dish. We did well there until a factory asked me if I wanted to represent their products nationally, and
that was another part of my journey learning the satellite industry; working to design higher quality products and marketing them. We did really well and were quite successful in the Middle East and Africa. That turned into a lot of travel and meeting people from around the world.
That job attracted a lot of foreign companies including London-based Eurosat, to come to the USA and work with us to bring new products into North America. Companies like Grundig
Microwave that made LNBFs, to the DBS industries. along with Global, Fracarro and others. From there we built a solid distribution base, and progressed to STBs (set top boxes) like we are offering today. We gained a reputation and received an award as the 3rd manufacturer for Direct TV, with Daewoo.
From there, I started Manhattan-Digital to produce the first of many MPEG-4 HD boxes for the consumer satellite market. Then we developed OTA (over the air) products for the introduction
of ATSC 1.0 to the market. Today, we embark on the Next Generation TV platform with ATSC 3.0, which we are presenting to you today for your consideration. My staff and engineers have followed the same growth paths in their lives as we all evolve in life moving forward.
In the near future of our product line will increase and new products that are hybrid models with our goal to make your life simpler and easier after a long day at work and in life. Our goal is to
provide security to your system that allows you to access your system from anywhere in the world.
